Major: Anthropology and Geography

Since working on a development project in the Dominican Republic I have been interested in the ethics and long-term results of aid in unindustrialized nations. This project is an excellent opportunity to get hands on experience with data analysis, collection, and the long-term effects a development project has on a community.

Major: Civil Engineering

In working with Engineers Without Borders, our Cal Poly chapter has been taking steps towards critically analyzing the effects of development work, including the processes that EWB as a national organization carries out. I got involved with this class and the ISEC project to get a deeper understanding of these effects and to further develop my understanding of the ethics of it all.

Major: Environmental Management and Protection

Through my coursework, I have established a strong passion for sustainability. I see this project as an opportunity to further explore my passions, beyond the scope of the natural environment, and apply them to development work and social problems around the world.
