PROBLEM STATEMENT:

The development of the solar cooking stove has been an exciting and groundbreaking achievement. Soon the stoves will be mass distributed to communities around Ghana. In Ghana, nearly 50,000 people die each week from air pollution. We want to change that.

To better understand the net impacts of this stove, we will be closely working alongside ISEC, Nexleaf Analytics, and the people of Ghana. Through data we collect from StoveTrace sensors, we will be able to establish a digital foundation for future collection and analysis of data.

ON OUR PARTNER COMMUNITY

The project is currently based in Kumasi, Ghana. We will also be working with Ashesi University, located in Accra, Ghana. The business team will soon be identifying two specific communities to focus on and partner with.

More than 98% of Ghanans are Black Africans, although the country is very multiethnic. The Ashanti people are the largest ethnic group in Ghana. The current population of Ghana totals at over 30 million people, a rather large increase from the 2010 census of 24 million. As of 2018, Ghana has an individual life expectancy of 66.6 years, ranking 142nd in the world.

The life expectancy in Ghana is 66.6 years. Smoke inhalation from everyday cooking practices factors into this.
